GTak with Kontakt 4

Hi there,

I have Gtak and use it with Kontakt 3,5. I want to upgrade my Kontakt 3,5 to Kontakt 4 that will be released in October 2009, but only if my Gtak is compatible. I assume the new Kontakt 4 works pretty much like the Kontakt 3,5 upgrade, but still I need to ask two questions to really know:

1. Will Gtak also be compatible with the new Kontakt 4?
2. Can I use the version of Gtak I already have, or do I need to purchase another/new version?

I suppose Costas will have to wait for the release of Kontakt 4 before he can update the ksp files. It would be interesting to know if there is a projected timescale, as I prefer to delete old versions before updating.

Yeah he might, allthough it seemed like he was testing with Kontakt 3,5 prior to the release from NI.. not a problem for me at all, I can wait. Just figured Costas was on the forefront, like the product is. Gtak is great!

Hey guys, sorry for the delay getting back to you, I have been working hard on... Gtak for Kontakt4!

I'm on the beta team for Kontakt4, so far the current version of Gtak seems to work fine in Kontakt4 so you should be able to upgrade to K4 and still be able to use all the current Gtak instruments fromt the K3.5 library.

Of course Kontakt4 also comes with a new library and some new features which I would like to supply a new version of Gtak for. This is what I am working on at the moment. So far NI have released a small part of the library to beta testers, so I can make a start. However, I don't know when I will get the rest so can't really say when it will be finished.

I have most things working now, so it should be out in the next couple of weeks. The manual and demos etc might take a bit longer.

Gtak is working here with Kontakt 4 running in Samplitude Pro V11.

That's good to hear!

I've enabled Gtak4 (the new version for Kontakt4) for download so it should be there in customer's accounts now. That should work even better.

I'm in the process of updating the website at the moment, but the main things are:

• Comes loaded in all the Kontakt4 instruments (including the new Choir collection)
• Support for the new VSL Orchestra instruments with or without keyswitching on the E-String (See Manual section 6.3).
• Support for Dynamic Keyswitching in Orchestra and Choir instruments (6.4).
• All instruments tagged with Gtak4 in their bank name so you can find them easily (10.4)
• Pedal CC Learning mode (5).
• New feature that lets you control the pedals by playing notes.on a particular string (8)
• Bigger interface

It was a lot of work, I hope Kontakt5 isn't out for a good while

Thanks! I did think about charging for the update, but most people only bought Gtak a few months ago so it didn't seem right to be charging so soon.

For new customers there will soon be a Gtak4 product page, but in the meantime you can just buy Gtak and of course you will get Gtak4 as well.
